Casondra Sobieralski: “Bad Ass Old Ladies” Vision Board

I had a freak out that I was getting old!

I was standing in front of a mirror in the women’s room of the college where I teach. The lighting revealed more gray hair than I ever see in my bathroom at home. Through the rainy winter, the bunion on my left foot was hurting. I skipped a period for the first time since I was in my 20s (except for when I had covid the summer prior). Did that mean I was stressed, iron deficient, done…? :0

I took a deep breath and decided I wasn’t old yet, but I could see it coming. I decided to treat this aging thing, with all its unknowns like any other adventure. I spent my birthday with my friend Karrrie in her art studio. While she prepared for her upcoming New York show, I made a vision board collage representing what kind of bad ass old lady I want to be! Take the reigns, Xenas!

Btw, the woman with the headphones is pointing to my two bad ass grandmas, both so inspirational. And the one wearing the black flapper feather at her 100th birthday party is still going. As of this posting, she is 102 years old!
